Dr. Sherif Bakir is a Senior Consultant in Cardiology at Medcare Medical Centre. He obtained his MBBCh from Cairo University, Egypt and then did his MSc in Cardiology from Ain Shams University, Egypt.
Later, he completed an MD in Cardiology from Ain Shams University, Egypt. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC).

He also worked as a Cardiologist with the National Heart Insurance and the Health Insurance Organisation in Egypt. Subsequently, he relocated to the UAE and has spent over three decades working as a Consultant with the Ministry of Health, Head of Medical and Cardiac Department, Al Qassimi Hospital, Senior Consultant Cardiologist, Ministry of Health, Sharjah, Consultant Cardiologist, Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, Abu Dhabi, Consultant Cardiologist at the Mafraq Hospital, Consultant Cardiologist at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City/Mayo Clinic, Abu Dhabi and as Consultant Cardiologist, Head of Adult Cardiology at Kidsheart Medical Centre, Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
Dr. Bakir is a member of the American Heart Association for High Blood Pressure Research, the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), the European Association of Echocardiography (EAE), the New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS), the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the Emirates Cardiac Society (ECS) and the Egyptian Society of Cardiology (EgSC).

He treats diabetes mellitus, hypertension, lipid disorder and cardiac involvement in systemic diseases like amyloidosis, sarcoidosis, coronary artery disease, arrhythmias (e.g., atrial fibrillation, bradycardia, tachycardia), valvular heart disease (e.g., aortic stenosis, mitral regurgitation), cardiomyopathy, pericardial disease, obesity and metabolic syndrome, Endocarditis, sedentary lifestyle and physical inactivity, syncope of suspected cardiac origin, aortic diseases (e.g., aortic aneurysm, aortic dissection) and peripheral artery disease.
He provides pre-operative cardiac evaluation for cardiac and non-cardiac interventions and prescribes medicine and coordinates referrals for other specialities, performs pre-participation cardiovascular screening in athletes or individuals starting intense exercise and cardiovascular risk assessment in patients with chronic inflammatory diseases.
