Education
He completed his MBBS and MD in Internal Medicine from Seth G S Medical College, Mumbai University, India. He holds a Diplomate from the National Boards of Cardiology (DNB), New Delhi and has also completed a DM Cardiology from Seth G S Medical College, Mumbai University, India.
He holds a Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology from the University of Rouen, France, and one in Interventional Cardiology from Harvard Medical School, USA.

He is also a Life Member of the Cardiological Society of India and the Association of Medical Consultants of India. He is the Founder and Course Director of Cardio Diabetes Medicine, the Heart Failure Foundation of India (HFFI) and the Fellowship of Advanced Heart Failure.
Dr. Merchant has three decades of experience in interventional cardiology. He has worked at several renowned hospitals across the globe. His illustrious career commenced as a House officer in Medicine at the K. E. M., Hospital in Mumbai where he later served as a Registrar in Internal Medicine followed by a Registrar in Cardiology.
Performed procedures
He has successfully performed angiography, FFR, IVUS, OCT, and complex coronary Angioplasty including left main bifurcation, CTO, multivessel disease, cardiogenic shock, Valvuloplasty, TAVI, carotid, renal stenting, critical limb ischemia interventions and bioresorbable scaffold implant. He has treated advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, impella, ECMO, LVAD and heart transplant.
He has done pioneering work in the field of perfusion balloon angioplasty and stents. At present, he is actively involved in complex coronary angioplasty, physiology and imaging, cath lab interventions in Cardiodiabetic patients, bioresorbable soluble scaffolds, drug-coated balloons, renal denervation therapy, TAVI procedures and management of advanced heart failure.
