Dr. Marija is senior neonatologist, experienced in treatment of preterm as well as sick term newborns. Further, her expertise cover neonatal ventilation (invasive & non-invasive), neuroprotection & cooling with CFM&EEG & brain ultrasound, neonatal enetral & parenteral nutrition, post & presurgical care of neonatal patients, minimal invasive interventions, coverage of high risk deliveries & parental prenatal consultation.
Dr. Marija Lukavac is Board certified Pediatrician & Neonatologist. After earning MD degree (1993) & Pediatric internship & residency (2000) in Medical University in Pristina & Belgrade-Yugoslavia, Dr. Lukavac completed neonatology fellowship at the Belgrade University-Serbia in 2008. Most recently (2021) she gained Masters Degree at Johns Hopkins University-US, in Patient Safety and Healthcare Quality
Job experience
She gained her professional experience working in the University Hospital - Pristina (Clinics for Gynecology & Obstetrics), Institute for Neonatology- Belgrade, & Al Seef Hospital in Kuwat. At the last one, she was important member of the set up team for opening brand new hospital & was in charge for full Neonatology department establishment.
Dr. Lukavac broadened & gained additional experience as a NICU visiting scholar at the University Hospital Salzburg- Landeskrankenhaus, University Hospital-Salt Lake City UTAH, New York Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children Hospital (Columbia University), and the most recently in one of the best centers worldwide in survival and outcome of extremely preterm newborns, the University of Iowa Stead Family Children Hospital-US.
