• Dr. Nafisa Ibrahim El Serafi is a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Medcare Hospital Sharjah. She obtained her MBBCh and a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. She is a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG), UK, and a fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRCOG), UK. Dr. El Serafi has spent four decades in a demanding yet rewarding career combining medical expertise and compassionate care. She has served across Nigeria, Scotland, England and Wales, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. As a House Officer, she commenced her career with the Ain Shams University and the Ministry of Health Hospitals in Egypt. Later, she worked in Maternity and Child Health Services and was a Registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Port Said Maternity Hospital. She then spent some time at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in Zaria, Nigeria, and then worked at several maternity hospitals in Scotland, England and Wales. She also worked at reputed maternity hospitals in Saudi Arabia, garnering invaluable experience in her chosen field. She has spent the major part of her career in the maternity department of Al Zahra Private Hospital in Sharjah, UAE.
• Dr. El Serafi’s expertise covers areas related to the reproductive system, pregnancy, and childbirth. She has successfully navigated her patients through pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period, monitoring the health of both the mother and baby, and managing complications, especially in high-risk pregnancies, including performing Caesarean sections. She proficiently treats all conditions related to the female reproductive system, such as ovarian cysts, endometriosis, and uterine fibroids. She also provides preventive care, like Pap smears, and offers guidance on contraception, fertility, and menopause management. She has successfully managed normal and abnormal deliveries, treated infertility, abnormal vaginal bleeding, menopause and related problems, post-natal care and loop insertion. She strongly believes that an OB-GYN is an essential partner in women's healthcare, supporting them through various life stages.
